 Buying spells
« Thread Started on Jan 22, 2005, 3:06am »

I keep seeing all these banners, and I'm just curious as to whether anyone actually buys spells. It's late, I'm an insomniac who's currently out of sandalwood and chamomile...I thought, "What the heck, I'll ask."

Everyone please answer, though. I really am curious.

i sometimes buy spells, depending on what the spell is and how desperate i am to finish it. mostly i just make my own, or get them from the internet. i fell that is much more safer and if the spell doesn`t work u won`t have wasted your money. :) ;D ;)

the spell will work better if you make it yourself, the caster puts more intent into it than ripping it off of someone elses mind.

I stopped using other people's spells when I was around 13...how are others supposed to design a ritual/spell to meet your needs???...they could never completely understand another person or his/her situiation...especially if they've never even met.

needless to say, I don't use other's spells...it just seems like a waste of my time and a little laziness on my part

(keep in mind this is my opinion and it is not an insult on people who use other's spells...unless if they use one by $RW :P)

I wonder if by buying a spell from an expereinced practitioner if that could count as a sort of sacrifice or medium of exchange? Kinda follows the idea that inorder to gain something one must give in return. -I know thats also the principle of that one law in that Alchemy cartoon. But I've been tought this by my mother so I know its a real idea. In a way it kinda makes sense to use a more expereinced source, especially if its important, to increase the liklihood of success. And by buying it you essentially put what you've sweated and worked for - money into the magick.

However I've never bought or sold a spell, for any reason.

I use my own. I think spells that are created by the person casting them are more effective

Here is what I have always thought, magick works because you think it will. If you don't beleve it won't work. Ask anyoen who knows anything about human psycology and they would tell you people beleve most if they can Identify with it deeply. That is what symbolism in spells does, it lets you tap into you deep subconsious and tap into higher levels understanding and consiousness.

Remeber this is just what I think

If you're too lazy to write your own spell, you're too lazy to make someone else's spell work.

that about sums it up...

the only use someone else's prewritten spells could really have is maybe an example to study...for newbies who don't really know how to write their own spells/rituals...and, still, that isn't really that useful. I own two books that contain spells written by another person, but that is just because it was really just meant as a work of poetry more than something to use..and I'll say, they are really nicely written.
